Delete Part 2
The Crow smiled coldly and replied, “Quite right; you are in charge.” Then after a moment’s pause, he added, “For now, please proceed with the questions.”
The Narrator smiled as coldly as the Crow. Then, he clicked the mike and said, “Danny do you know your third question?”
“Yes, I do.”
“Good, then you may…..”
“I have a question,” interrupted Mr. Smith.
“Mr. Smith, you must wait your turn. Now please be quiet,” replied the Narrator.
“I thought I told you, that you have no control over me.”
“I’m warning you, for your own sake,” the Crow said. “Think about what you’re going to say next before you say it.”
“My question is,” Mr. Smith said, ignoring the Crow’s warning, “What gives you the right to ask these questions? Who gave you the authority to be the Narrator?”
“I warned you to think about what you said next,” the Crow said. “Now….”
“That question you asked”, the Narrator said, interrupting the Crow, “has already been answered; and I’m not about to answer it a second time. Now shut up, you worthless piece of imagination.”
Jumping to his feet, Mr. Smith screamed, “How dare you speak to me that way. I demand to know. I demand that you answer me…”
It was about this time that the Narrator tuned out the bleating of Mr. Smith. Tapping the Delete button on the console, the names of the Characters came up. The Narrator tapped the one that read Agent Smith. A small box popped up on the console which read, “You have chosen the Delete Agent Smith option. Do you wish to proceed?” Two buttons appeared below the message marked, “Yes and No.”
His finger hovering above the button, the Narrator clicked the mike button with the other. “This is your last warning, Mr. Smith. Sit down and shut up, or else.”
“Or else what?” spat Mr. Smith. “How many times do I have to tell you, you dimwitted little man, that you have no right to tell me….”
The Narrator hit the delete button. Mr. Smith disappeared in a puff of black smoke. A white cardboard placard floated down from the ceiling and landed on Agent Smith’s chair. Tinnese picked it up and read, “Agent Smith, deleted on 8/13/15 by the Narrator. May his alter ego have better luck.” Placing the placard back down on the chair, he laughed and said, “Not likely.”
