Story idea:

 

Have you ever looked at a signpost from a good distance on a poorly lit road? If at looked in just the right way, it appears to be a mysterious figure looking at you. As you draw closer to it, you realize that it is just a signpost and laugh at your own childish fears. Because of course they can’t hurt you…they’re after all inanimate objects and thus can bring no harm to you…but what if this was not the case.

What if there was one particular signpost that was evil…whether it was made that way or had something done to it(this is yet to be determined), it has a lust for humans…no this is not some kinky porno or love story- though there will be some of that sprinkled in as the story progresses. Anyway, this signpost can disappear and reappear at random, it has a weird black marking – like a large mole or a circle.  And of course, it eats people or appears to eat people- they may in fact be sucked into another dimension or place in time- this of yet must be determined.

Now the question is, there only one sign? How was it created, who first discovered it? I believe that one of the first scenes would someone finding the post and being eaten. The police – a local sheriff would be called the next day and investigate the scene…this would happen a couple of times and then the sign would move to another location…perhaps not the sign but the black mark moves? This again has yet to be determined.

There could also be multiple signs or multiple marks----perhaps have the mark be some kind of experiment that was stolen and used for an evil purpose- like the first few deaths were connected and then go from there- like the people are not dead – but somewhere else?

All of this has yet to be determined and I know as I dive deeper into the plot and story line – things will evolve further.
