The crashing of waves Part 1
Jack’s breathing was heavy and unstable. He knew that he had to calm it before attempting to go anywhere. Calling to mind the soothing ocean tapes his life coach (who had claimed he was actually his therapist) had given him to listen to every night, Jack pictured in his mind the crashing of waves upon the shore. This time however instead of the waves being a bluish grey, they were instead a punch red color. Shaking his head to clear the image, Jack sighed in frustration as it remained in place. Opening his eyes, Jack was about to give up, but then decided to try one more time. This time, the sound of the crashing waves upon the shore reached his ears, soothing his nerves. Jack let the calming noise wash over him. It was the peace that he had been searching for, the antidote to his disease. Within a few moments, Jack was able to focus his mind on the task at hand. His goal was still the same, escape. But he knew that escaping the base was impossible. The only way out was through the portal- to go the same route that Jill did. Perhaps he would even run across her, save her and be welcomed back like the hero he knew he was.
