Therapy: Symphony's Questions Part 1
Symphony shifted in her seat and said, “I have three questions that I can ask you, right?”
“That’s right.”
“Okay, let’s see…three questions.” Symphony grew silent, twitching her face this way and that, while trying to decide which three questions to ask.
Tinnese, who was watching Symphony, started mimicking her facial expressions, while adding a few additions of his own. After a few moments, Danny started copying Tinnese. The Old Man, upon seeing Tinnese, first smiled, then chuckled softly; finally ending in full out laughter. Even Nosos cracked a smile. The Crow scowled at all of them and muttered aloud, “Idiots.”
“I agree.” Nosos replied.
The Crow flashed him a sympathetic smile and patted him, gently, on the arm.
“Remove your hand, Now!” Nosos growled.
“Touchy, Touchy,” the Crow replied, removing his hand.
Symphony, who had become distracted by Nosos and the Crow’s interaction, gave them both a dirty look. The Narrator, as always, was watching this and said, “Gentlemen, please. Show some respect for your fellow character.” Both men broke away from their argument,t and the Crow replied, “She’s a fellow? Well, that explains a lot.”
“Shut Up!” Symphony snapped.
The Narrator sighed. “You know what I mean. Symphony, are you ready for your first question?”
“Yes.” Symphony replied.
“Good. Go ahead.”
“Okay. My first question is why Amos isn’t here with us now?”
Both Tinnese and Danny groaned, interrupting Symphony. “What now!” She demanded.
“Good God, Symphony,” Nosos said. “Why can’t you let the boy go… it’s like he’s become an obsession of yours.”
“Obsessions are good. I strongly encourage you to pursue this further,” the Crow said, smiling with fake sincerity.”
“Well, I’m glad that someone supports me in my pursuits.” Symphony replied, returning the Crow’s smile with one of her own.
“Symphony, pay no attention to that man.” said the Old Man. “He is evil in its truest form, and has nothing except his own interests at heart.”
Symphony’s smile vanished as she asked the Crow, “Is this true?”
He just smiled broadly and shrugged his shoulders, as if to say, ‘you expect anything else?’ Symphony turned back to her original position and grunted, “Men… they can never be trusted.”
“Let me get this straight,” the Narrator said, adjusting the microphone as he spoke. “Symphony, you’re asking why Amos and the other characters like Anny, Carlos, Amelia, from the fourth world are not in here with you guys, as well?”
“Yeah, something like that.” Symphony replied.
“Well, Amos and other characters like him are what are known as minor characters. They have a limited role to play, and are most likely to stay in their own particular world. However, there have been known instances where a character has risen above the rank of minor, and has been granted the privilege of becoming, semi-major character; as in the Crow’s, and your case.”
“Are you calling me a minor character?” Symphony yelled, jumping to her feet. Suddenly she began to smoke. “What did you do to me?” she screamed, as the room began to swim.
“Me? Why are you asking me?” the narrator replied. “Why don’t you ask Tinnese and Danny?”
All heads turned toward these two; but before Danny could help himself, he yelled, “This should take care of her!” His arm, cocked back in a throwing posture. Stumbling forward, Symphony fell to her knees, and mumbled before slumping over, “I’ll kill you both before this is over.”
“Not likely.” Symphony heard Tinnese reply, as everything went dark.
