A Spark of Hope Part 7
Two days later, Jillian received word that the team had reached Spooky’s last known location and had begun a fifty mile sweep in all directions. As of yet no word had reached Jillian’s grey ears, but she knew that this kind of thing takes time. To keep her mind clear, Jillian busied herself with the affairs of running her business. This included making sure that the experimental catnip rubber ducky which was still in its testing phase was on schedule. So far the results were promising, though there still continued to be a setback with the durability of the chewable rubber. The problem was that whenever the rubber came into contact with young kitten’s claws and teeth, it would pop. Thus defeating the initial purpose of the catnip rubber ducky as a teething product for the young cat at heart.
After some pondering an idea popped into Jillian’s head, ‘If we can’t prevent the rubber from popping, she meowed softly to herself as she scanned over the results of the latest test, ‘Then perhaps we can make the rubber dissolvable… no edible. In this way, if the rubber does end up in the mouths of the young, it will be more nutritional than harmful.’
Recording her findings, Jillian sent them down to the scientists for further study and experimentation. Rubbing her eyes, Jillian stretched in her black computer chair and yawned. Going over all this paperwork is hard work,’ Jillian meowed softly to herself. ‘It makes a kitty awfully tired. Closing her eyes, Jillian was preparing to take a quick cat nap, when her phone rang. Groggily, she lifted the receiver and meowed softly, “Yes?”
“We found him, Ma’am.”
Instantly Jillian was awake. “What did you say,” she screeched barely able to hold her excitement.
Calmly the voice replied on the other end, “We have found Spooky and he has requested your presence immediately. There seem s to be a lot that you too need to talk about.”
